Otl Aicher was one of the most important and influential designers of the post-war period. He became world-famous for the corporate design he developed for the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. The pictograms designed for this event created a visual language that is used in public spaces all over the world today. The visual identity of many companies, including Lufthansa, ERCO and Bulthaup, originates from his hand. As co-founder, teacher and rector of the legendary Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm, he left his mark on several generations of designers. Throughout his life, he fought passionately for an open, free, democratic society.
